Another huge security breach officially reported...I am quite disappointed to hear that since I recently visited one of the Starwood hotels! The scary thing is that it seems that the data breach started at 2014!!!

Marriott International[ said early Friday](http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001vksOAkXBWC_31s37zHhQq1jnFewafUQEb9pCwuZ1hxjTlRCCdANlw6Ww-4BLJWzZa14t9GxZBBpzwmizuRhyJsD3-0bdaz96o9a4EQc2Pj7ovVoLhM6o1rNesueUPwaSwHWRTaMYAlYjOTFABYogra0aOmNG4pD9mlIBw_hSQC0RTtGYfVsoQh79FQ54s-W1gKRpnN08ToVtM7UozuHJSGESSiygmsWgfEIA-7ui1Q5Zoa78m2xi1JQfPKHcF9xxUuB9gGIuyp4yA_7rMbfFgA==&c=SHdSVils0LLrc5JMBfNtJXZWmoGsMyq_ZN5Ak0Ng6zSiooN1iQ1gKg==&ch=09Teng4zkRUe6sR1ccznQokovqX2LEXe-dFgsVvZt9e7jOiotItLAw==) that data on roughly 500 million customers staying at Starwood hotel properties had been compromised in a breach that gave unknown attackers access to the Starwood network since 2014.

The hotel giant said that [on September 8, 2018](http://airmail.calendar/2018-09-08%2012:00:00%20GMT+3), it received an alert from an internal security tool regarding an attempt to access the Starwood guest reservation database.

The company said it "quickly engaged leading security experts" to conduct an investigation, which found that there had been unauthorized access to the Starwood network since 2014.
